Toradol Generic (Ketorolac)

The active ingredient in Toradol from is ketorolac tromethamine. It comes under the nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs category. Toradol is used for the treatment of acute pain in adults. It is better to know the risks involved in the usage of Toradol before you start using this medication.

It is advised to use this medication for the shortest possible time with the lowest dosage possible as it might have certain adverse effects in some patients.


Do not take Toradol for more than five days. If the patient still needs treatment for the ailment it is better to consult a healthcare professional and switch to other drugs for the treatment.

Patients between 17 years of age and 65 years of age should be given an initial dose of 20 mg and then 10 mg for every 4 to 6 hours. The interval between dosages should not be reduced below 4 hours. For patients above 65 years of age the initial dose should be 10 mg initial and 10 mg afterwards for every 4 to 6 hours. The initial dose given should not be given as oral suspension. Patients less than 17 years of age should not take oral formulations.

Adverse Effects and Precautions

Toradol can be used for up to 5 days in adults. Usage of this drug for more than 5 days is not recommended. This drug should not be used in children. Adverse events might be expected if you use more than 40 mg per day of Toradol in case of adults. Beyond this dosage the medicine will not be effective in the patient. There are other risks of using this medication. Patients who already have peptic ulcer should not use this drug as it might cause perforations in the stomach and the intestine and this could occur without any symptoms.

Older patients should use Toradol with care and with supervision from a medical practitioner. Non steroidal anti inflammatory drugs like Toradol might increase the risk of cardiovascular diseases. Patients who already have some renal infections should not take Toradol.

In pregnant woman Toradol should not be used as it might affect the contractions of the uterine and fetal circulation. The dosage of Toradol has to be carefully adjusted for patients who are less than 110 lbs weight and who are older than 65 years of age.
